Shell U.S. Country Chair; President, Shell Oil Company
Bruce Culpepper was appointed as U.S. Country Chair and President of Shell Oil Company in April 2016. In this position, he heads the U.S. Country Leadership Team, overseeing strategy and plans for all Shell assets and businesses in the United States.
Bruce became President after most recently serving as Executive Vice President of Upstream Americas and Unconventional Resources, based in Houston, Texas.
As U.S. Country Chair and President of Shell Oil Company, Bruce frequently engages with public, private, media and non-governmental leaders on a wide range of energy policy issues. He is charged with establishing and advocating for innovative, industry-leading solutions to the challenge of securing safe, secure and sustainable energy sources.
Bruce graduated with honors from the University of Alabama in 1981 with a Bachelor of Science in Human Resources Management. Shortly thereafter, he began his thirty-six-plus-year career with Shell at the Norco Manufacturing Complex in Louisiana. Since then he has served in a number of Upstream, Downstream, and Corporate leadership positions of increasing responsibility and scope – both internationally and in the United States. His experience as a Senior Executive also involved such roles as human resources, general business management, real estate, and external relations.
Bruce is an avid outdoorsman and has a keen interest in land and water conservation. He serves as a board member of the Greater Houston Partnership, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, the Building Conservation Trust, the United Way of Greater Houston, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Foundation, the Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation, and volunteers for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.
Bruce lives in Houston with his wife, Marguerite. They have two children: daughter Ashley and son Addison.
