About The 2019 National Competitiveness Forum

As technological advancements spur development around the globe, the United States faces an unprecedented challenge: the erosion of our distinct innovation edge. The global competitiveness landscape is constantly changing in ways that impact all sectors of our economy; from industry, academia and labor, to national labs and government. New advancements in science and technology and new schools of thought in enterprise and academia are re-shaping the way we work, businesses operate, nations govern and societies function.

Nations and regions around the globe are making visible and massive strategic investments to adapt to this shifting landscape– they are developing their own differentiated innovation ecosystems to drive productivity, growth and prosperity. In the face of this new reality, the United States must act to remain ahead of our largest global competitors. We need to take critical actions to ensure we:

·       Develop and deploy at scale—and captures our share of value from—the next wave of global innovation.

·       Produce and consume sustainably in a world characterized by turbulence, transition and transformation.

·       Build a multi-disciplinary and innovation-oriented workforce for the future.

·       Optimize our system—the interconnected web of regulations, standards, rules and capital—for innovation.

The 2019 National Competitiveness Forum (NCF) will bring together over 200 C-Suite leaders from every major sector of the economy to share their perspectives on how to confront and overcome critical challenges facing the U.S. innovation engine. The conversations that take place over the two-days of the NCF will address how our nation can create momentum to outpace the rest of the world in innovation capacity, capability and competitiveness as well as develop new-to-the-world efforts, in order to launch and scale innovation-based research, businesses and ventures in the United States.
